Indivisible Carson City Endorses Teresa Benitez-Thompson
After a membership vote, Indivisible Carson City has announced their endorsement of Teresa Benitez-Thompson in her campaign to represent Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District, in what organizers call a critical race for the district. Other Nevada Indivisible groups across the state have also endorsed Benitez-Thompson or are supporting that endorsement.
CD2 has been held by Republicans since it was created following the 1980 census, but local Indivisible leaders say Benitez-Thompson, a lifelong northern Nevadan, has the experience and community roots to change that.
“Benitez-Thompson’s work as a social worker, mom, community leader, and Majority Leader of the Nevada State Assembly embodies the values Indivisible groups are committed to holding our elected officials accountable to: equality, justice, compassion, inclusion, and the protection of our democracy. We believe she will carry those values to Washington.”
— Kelly Bennett Unger, Indivisible Carson City Leader
A centrist Democrat, Benitez-Thompson has lived in northern Nevada since she was four years old, in contrast to her opponent, David Flippo, who relocated to Reno only months ago to run for Congress. Colleagues from across the political spectrum have praised her work ethic and integrity. Assembly Member Selena Torres-Fossett (D-Las Vegas) has called her one of the most talented lawmakers she has worked with, while former State Senator Pete Goicoechea of Eureka County, a staunch conservative, has described her as a good friend, according to the Nevada Independent (May 17, 2026).
“Teresa has a unique perspective having come from a background of social work and roots that run deep in Northern Nevada. She has the experience we need and the desire to fight for the best opportunities for hard working Nevadans.”
— Cassandra Kuretich, Humboldt Indivisible Leader
“Teresa’s experience in the State Assembly and her roots in Northern Nevada prove her qualifications. Her opponent is not from Northern Nevada, and his loyalty lies with Trump and not with Nevadans. Teresa is the best choice for CD2!”
— Farrell Vaughn, Indivisible Northern Nevada Leader
Endorsing Indivisible groups say Benitez-Thompson’s priorities align closely with the concerns of CD2 voters, including affordability, jobs and the economy, protection of public lands, election security, and healthcare access.
